If your business accepts cash, you'll need to manage the cash drawer — set the opening float, track cash in/out, and balance at the end of your shift.

Opening the Cash Drawer

  1. Start Your POS Session
When you open the POS, you'll be prompted to enter the opening float (starting cash amount).
  2. Count the Cash
Count the bills and coins in the drawer and enter the total. This is usually a standard amount set by management (e.g., $200).
  3. Confirm
Click Open Drawer. The system records the opening amount and you're ready for cash transactions.

During Your Shift

The system automatically tracks:

  • Cash received from sales
  • Change given to clients
  • Cash refunds issued

The expected cash total is always available by clicking Drawer Status.

Closing and Balancing

  1. Click Close Drawer
At the end of your shift, click Close Drawer.
  2. Count the Cash
Physically count all bills and coins in the drawer.
  3. Enter Your Count
Enter the total. The system compares it to the expected amount and shows any difference.
  4. Note Any Discrepancy
If there's a discrepancy, add a note explaining it (e.g., "Gave $1 too much change to client"). Click Close Drawer.

Report large discrepancies. Small differences (under $5) are common. Anything over $5 should be reported to your manager immediately.
